In 2017, the Health Resources and Services Administration-funded National Center for Integration of Primary Care and Oral Health (CIPCOH) surveyed 13 primary care professions to assess the state of oral health curricula in their respective training programs. Two professions, physician assistant (PA) and nurse practitioner (NP) programs, led in oral health integration. Conversely, dental schools were surveyed to examine their interprofessional activities with primary care disciplines. Results showed that dental schools’ interprofessional curricular activities focused largely on medical and pharmacy students. This educational session will explore the ways dental schools can engage PA and NP programs in interprofessional learning activities.
