TL-044 - What Will You Do If? Preparing Students for Extramural Rotations

Preparing students as they leave the safety of dental school and transition to extramural rotations is crucial to the education experience. An innovative method using Poll Everywhere and peer instruction was developed to engage students. Questions were based on challenges and ethical dilemmas experienced by previous students during their extramural rotations. The class was divided into small groups, presented the questions, asked to discuss possible responses among themselves, after which they responded to the Poll Everywhere questions. The method is effective when orienting students and preparing them for upcoming extramural rotations.
