Dental public health interventions should embody a collaborative spirit between community
stakeholders, academia, corporate philanthropy and policymakers. NYU Dentistry, the Caribbean Oral Health Initiative of UPR Dental Medicine and Colgate-Palmolive have demonstrated successful programs combining service, education, research and advocacy to achieve sustainable improvements in population health while enriching dental students’ experience. In this workshop, moderators from each organization will draw upon examples of successful and unsuccessful collaborations in the Caribbean and Latin America to lead attendees in exploring best practices for sustainably meeting the oral health needs of underserved communities while training the next generation of health providers.
