TL-023 - Learning With, From and About: Dental Hygiene and Radiation Therapy

An interprofessional student collaborative learning opportunity was created for dental hygiene (DH) and radiation therapy (RT) students to better understand the patient's cancer care experience, beyond the DH/RT points of practice. Multiple stations were used to engage students in the oncology patient journey, including the virtual environment radiotherapy treatment (VERT) simulation education platform. The DH and RT students completed pre- and post-session surveys and participated in a debrief-style question and answer discussion, which indicated that this was a valuable learning experience. Future offerings and opportunities are being planned and will be discussed during the presentation.

• Describe an interprofessional collaborative learning session between dental hygiene and radiation therapy students.
• Discuss the learners' perspectives of the session.
• Identify further interprofessional learning opportunities with other health care professions.
