Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) has been of tremendous value in diagnosis and treatment planning in dentistry. Because anatomy is one of the most clinically important and relevant subjects in professional health education, CBCT can serve as a powerful tool for teaching anatomy, specifically when combined with plastinated specimens of human head and neck tissue whose density is much more conducive to imaging. Integration of 3D imaging and plastinated specimens offers real-time experience to dental students for learning gross as well as radiographic anatomy. This integration can help students better understand sectional anatomy and their structural relationship.
