The escalating opioid crisis has mobilized health care professionals and organizations to implement safe opioid practices. Increases in mandatory opioid education have resulted in a need for continuing education (CE) courses to be developed. With limited time available in the dental curriculum, CE departments can serve as a catalyst for positive change in this destructive national epidemic. By collaborating with health care professionals, CE departments can facilitate a multi-tiered, interprofessional approach to education. With the goal of reducing opioid prescribing, an Opioid tool-kit provides new and established dental providers with a collaborative way to address this epidemic.
