The program presents an interprofessional model in comprehensive assessment and management of complex facial pain conditions. This evidence-based model demonstrates collaboration of multidisciplinary specialists in orofacial pain, oral medicine, diagnosis, radiology and psychology. Clinical case presentations explain patient assessment, treatment planning, management and referral recommendations for patients with these conditions. The presenters will discuss how to engage dental students/residents in this team-based collaborative model of patient care and potential challenges and opportunities in these settings. This focus minimizes risk for the clinician and patient and underscores the importance of interprofessional collaboration with a team-based approach.
