Global assessment is essential to ensuring dental students have a thorough understanding of general dentistry prior to graduation. The University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry has developed a comprehensive general dentistry assessment (CGDA) to globally assess graduating students using three different evaluation processes. The three evaluations used in the CGDA are: 1) objective structured clinical exam (OSCE); 2) two treatment planning cases; and 3) a dental jurisprudence examination. This session will explain the process for creating and implementing this type of exam and give helpful insight into incorporating a similar assessment tool at other institutions.
