This workshop is for dental, allied dental and advanced dental educators interested in publishing systematic reviews of the literature in the Journal of Dental Education. Part 1 focuses on identifying research questions for systematic reviews, how to select search terms for finding relevant publications and which search engines to use. Part 2 will introduce the PRISMA Checklist and provide an overview of the actual systematic review process. Part 3 centers on which information is needed for publication and which format considerations must be followed. After this workshop, participants will better understand how to publish a systematic review in the JDE.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify which research questions are uniquely suited to be investigated in systematic reviews and how to select appropriate search terms and search engines.
• Describe the actual process of conducting a systematic review.
• Discuss the most important considerations when preparing a manuscript about a systematic review for submission to the JDE.
