To achieve competency in evidence-based dentistry (EBD), students require foundation knowledge and skills that can be challenging to understand and teach. Central to EBD is an understanding of the interpretation of scientific results, including the difference between clinical and statistical significance, and the integration into clinical practice within the context of the patient’s values and preferences. In this session, you will learn to interpret scientific results, define clinical significance and explore how blended learning can meet teaching challenges, together giving students a better ability to communicate science to patients for informed clinical decisions.
