CODA Standard 2-26 states all dental programs must offer students opportunities to engage in service learning and/or community-based learning experiences. This standard paves the way for innovation through collaboration to enhance students’ education while increasing access to care for vulnerable populations. These opportunities can present many challenges. Participants will engage in transforming an existing model by utilizing a proven template to implement fruitful collaborations through the art of negotiation to create an accountable and dutiful community-based clinical education program in only six months. The program will encompass interprofessional care and utilize cloud-based technology for telehealth, data collection and quality improvement.

Learning Objectives:

Develop an accountable and sustainable community-based clinical education program in six months using a proven template as a guide.
Identify opportunities and strategic imperatives to best enhance students’ education and organizational effectiveness through mutually beneficial collaboration.
Describe the value of utilizing a secure cloud-based IT system.
