This session will help attendees navigate the changing landscape of scholarly publishing and, in particular, the rise of predatory publishing. Predatory publishing describes journal publishers who engage in unethical or deceptive practices in order to make a profit. These publishers make false claims about their identity or quality and provide few or none of their promised services or benefits to authors. Using a “train the trainer” model, attendees will learn to identify and avoid predatory publishers and to educate or mentor students about publishing their research.
