FDI Committees, Programmatic and Associates Courses
This FDI-WHO-NCDA joint session will discuss how to build bridges between oral health and other primary healthcare professionals through inter-professional collaboration (ICP) to improve the prevention and control of noncommunicable disease (NCD) risk factors and comorbidities.
The burden of oral diseases and other NCDs is rapidly increasing worldwide. Many healthcare systems face enormous challenges in addressing NCDs and as a result are considering IPC as a new model of care. There is a growing consensus that IPC can improve the prevention and management of NCDs as well as reduce healthcare costs. Medical and oral health care are largely siloed in many settings and hinder IPC. This session will explore promising IPC practice models that better integrate oral health into NCD care.
