Dr. Coffman obtained a Bachelor of Science in 2006 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2011 from the University of Florida. While attending veterinary school, he enthusiastically accepted the Army’s Health Professions Scholarship and was commissioned as a Captain on graduation. His professional assignments since joining the United States Army in 2011 were selected with one clear objective in mind, to prepare him to return for advanced surgical education and training at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2016, he attained the rank of Major and was provide an opportunity through the U.S. Army’s Long Term Health Education and Training (LTHET) program. He is currently a third-year resident at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in Small Animal Surgery.
His long-term goals are to provide hands-on clinical guidance and training new veterinarians entering military service through the US Army’s First Year Graduate Veterinary Education Program (FYVGE) Program and provide the United States military working dogs innovative and cutting-edge surgical care.
