Dr. Menarim is a native of Brazil where he was born and raised in the Quarter Horse industry in Brazil. Dr menarim received his DVM from the Midwestern State University in the state of Parana in 2004 and further completed a Large Animal Surgery Residency in 2007 at the Sao Paulo State University in Botucatu, followed by a Master of Science in Radiology at the same institution in 2008. During the years of 2007 and 2008 Dr. Menarim practiced in private practice in the fields of Equine Surgery and Sports Medicine. In 2009 Dr. Menarim accepted an academic position as an Assistant Professor of Equine Surgery at Universidad Austral de Chile, becoming an Associate Professor in 2012, performing clinical surgical and academic duties focused on lameness diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Menarim then decided to deepen his focus on research and initiated his PhD training at the Comparative Musculoskeletal Research Lab at the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. After concluding his PhD ithe area of " Joint inflammation and inflammation resolution" in n 2019, Dr Menarim joined the Maxwell Gluck Equine Research Center as postdoctoral fellow.
