Dr. Fingeroth graduated from the Cornell College of Veterinary Mecdicine in 1982. He completed a rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City in 1983, then began a residency in small animal surgery at the AMC from 1983 to 1984. He then completed his residency in small animal surgery at The Ohio State University in 1986. From 1986 to 1988 he was an adjunct assistant professor at Ohio State. In 1988 he became board certified in surgery by the ACVS and subsequently relocated to Rochester, NY, where he founded and developed Veterinary Specialists of Rochester. He continued in that position until 2008, at which time he became senior staff surgeon at the Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center in Buffalo, NY, where he continues to practice. .
Dr. Fingeroth has published extensively and on many topics in peer-reviewd journals, written many book chapters, and in 2015 co-wrote and edited the only textbook devoted entirely to the subject of intervertebral disc disease in dogs and cats. He has spoken at numerous local, national and international conferences and continuing education forums. He frequently serves as a reviewer for such journals as Veterinary Surgery, JAVMA, and JAAHA.
