My name is Tom O'Brien and I am a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgery (large animal). Currently I work in a private equine practice in Ireland, Fethard Equine Hospital. I graduated from University College Dublin with a veterinary degree in 2006 and over the next two years I completed a surgical internship and a medicine fellowship at Hagyard Equine Meidcla Institute, Lexington, Kentucky. In 2008 I started a large animal surgical residency at the University of Wisconsin, Madison Wisconsin. In 2011, having completed my residency, I moved to Switrzedland to take up an emergency position at the University if Bern. In early 2012, having passed the board exams, I returned to Ireland to take up my current position. At Fethard Equine Hospital we have a varied caseload and my main focus is on juvenile orthpedic, urogentital and upper respiratory surgery in addition to the routine emergency caseload.
