This four-hour laboratory course will cover reconstructive surgical options for the upper and lower lips, the external nose/ nasal cavity, and the pinna in dogs. Lectures on the current techniques available will be covered in a concise lecture format followed by hands-on surgical training on canine cadaver heads. Techniques will include the use of labial advancement flaps, labial rotational flaps, buccal rotation, and the use of skin flaps in labial/buccal reconstruction. Nasal reconstruction will include the use of labial flaps (lip to lid technique variations), alar fold flaps, island nasolabial flaps, and the use of skin flaps. Pinna reconstruction techniques will include the use of skin flaps, surgical resection/ closure options, and the use of the Jackson Pratt drain for aural hematomas.
