Designed for the general practitioner who wants to enhance his or her efficiency and efficacy in performing a number of common abdominal procedures in the small animal patient. Techniques covered include: a truly thorough abdominal explore, effective opening and closing of luminal structures, obtaining good biopsies of abdominal organs, resection & anastomosis, incisional gastropexy, feeding tube placement, and trans-diaphragmatic cardiac massage. Procedures will be performed on canine cadavers. This laboratory will be led by board certified surgeons with a passion for teaching and a desire to share the tips and tricks not taught in veterinary school. With the hands-on cadaver practice and individual feedback, participants will feel more confident in their ability to fully assess an abdomen and comfortably perform a variety of common abdominal procedures for their patients.
