2019 ACVS Surgery Summit
Attendees will learn and practice concepts and techniques for intra-articular regenerative medicine injections including stem cell and platelet-rich plasma injections for the shoulder, elbow, carpus, hip, stifle, and hock. This session will focus on the advances the art and science of veterinary sports medicine and rehabilitation by presenting topics on the structural, physiological, medical and surgical needs of athletic animals and the restoration of normal form and function after injury or illness. Specific subjects will include the latest research in the field of sports medicine and rehabilitation through the presentation of original scientific abstracts. A keynote address will cover the environmental impacts on exercising animals. The session will then split into two species-specific sessions.
Subsequent lectures will delve further into acclimatization and heat injury. A year-in-review of the latest research in sports medicine and rehabilitation will be presented. Impact of GI disease on working and sporting animals will also be covered by two experts in the field. We will finish out the canine section with two discussions on digit injuries in canine athletes
