This seminar will cover gastrointestinal colic, the leading cause of death in horses.
It is known that the most severe post-operative complications and the high mortality associated with certain forms of colic is due to intestinal epithelial barrier breakdown that causes severe derangements in intestinal permeability. The objective of this session is to discuss advances in the field with a particular focus on the use of lidocaine and other methods to improve the diagnosis and surgical management of colic.
