Emergency and Critical Care Medicine Emergency and Critical Care Medicine (ECCM) and Surgery are intertwined at many levels in the continuum of patient care.
This seminar will provide an in-depth review of multiple topics that will aid in the optimal management of the surgical patient. Management of sepsis in the preoperative, operative, and postoperative period requires rapid identification, initiation of cardiovascular support, antimicrobial therapy, source control, and management of common sequelae of sepsis. Individual lectures will draw from the human Surviving Sepsis Guidelines and focus on what we can apply from them in our veterinary patients.
