This presentation provides an overview of federal rehabilitation policies that impact rehabilitation providers and consumers with physical disabilities and chronic conditions. Focus will be on federal public policy of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, access to rehabilitation services and devices, audits, denials, appeals, and other restrictions in care, as well as the status of the Affordable Care Act and recent efforts to undermine ACA protections in order to reduce cost of insurance. Chicago-based consumers with disabilities (one with brain injury and one with spinal cord injury) will share their stories and challenges with accessing health care to illustrate policy points discussed
