Digital Technologies Expo
Open Philology is a project focusing on the automatic alignment of Tibetan and Chinese versions of Buddhist texts translated from Sanskrit originals, beginning with a collection known as the Mahāratnakūṭa Sūtra. Our web portal allows visitors to analyze the aligned texts through customizable filters, and dynamically generate datasets based around specific research interests. This exhibit demonstrates the interface of the portal and explains how its various open source components can be acquired by anyone, at no cost, and adapted for similar projects. Visitors to the exhibit are welcome to interact with the Open Philology system and learn how to create their own web portal project by combining the following resources: Ubuntu Linux, NGINX web server, Gunicorn application server, Postgresql database software, Python, and the Django web framework.
