Workshop Session
Learn about current grant opportunities from the NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities) and get tips for writing successful applications from an NEH staff member. Senior Program Officer Mark Silver of the NEH's Division of Research Programs will discuss grant programs appropriate for individuals and for teams of scholars engaged in scholarly research in Asian Studies. The presentation will offer advice useful to all NEH applicants, but will focus on the following programs: Fellowships, Summer Stipends, Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission Fellowships for Advanced Social Science Research on Japan, Library of Congress Kluge Fellowships, the Public Scholar Program, Collaborative Research, and Scholarly Editions and Translations. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to meet individually with an NEH staff member to discuss specific project ideas in the humanities and the social sciences.The NEH is an independent agency of the U.S. government created in 1965.
