Alan L. Felsenfeld, MA, DDS is presently a Professor of Clinical Dentistry in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the UCLA School of Dentistry. This represents his third career as he has done many different things in his professional life. In addition to his 'day job,' he has spent countless hours volunteering in the political world of dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Early in his career he was instrumental in the development of the Anesthesia Assistant Review Course and has lectured in it more than 20 times. He serves on the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certifying Examination Committee and has been the chair for the past four years. Additionally, was a delegate to the AAOMS House of Delegates for many years, as the Caucus Chair for District VI and as the District VI Trustee member of the AAOMS board. Committee and task force service has been a constant for him and he has chaired or participated for more than twenty years. He has made several presentations at the AAOMS annual meetings in the area of anesthesia. For seven years he was an examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and chaired Section I. Complimenting his service to oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Felsenfeld spent 14 years on the Board of Trustees of the California Dental Association as a trustee, editor of the Journal of the California Dental Association and for 8 years speaker of the House of Delegates. At the American Dental Association, he is a long standing delegate from California and served on and was the chair of the Commission on Continuing Education Provider Recognition.
