Assistant Program Director
Dr. Shimel is the Residency Assistant Program Director and full time faculty. He joined the Highland Hospital/University of the Pacific Oral and Maxillofacial Residency Training Program as an Assistant Professor and full-time Attending Surgeon in July 2017. He is also an Assistant Professor at the University of the Pacific, Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. He earned his Bachelor of Science (BA) Degree in the Integral Program of Liberal Arts from Saint Mary’s College of California in 2002 and completed a post-baccalaureate program from San Francisco State University in 2009 before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from University of the Pacific in 2013. He completed her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at UOP/Alameda Health System, Highland Hospital in 2017.
He is the current president of the Sadi Fontaine Alumni Academy and is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). He is a fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a member of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS) and the chair for Exhibits within the Association.
