Dr. Susan Briggs is a Senior Surgeon at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School (HMS), Boston, Massachusetts. She is also an Affiliate Faculty in the HMS Department of Global Health and Social Medicine, Program in Global Surgery. Dr. Briggs received her MD from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. She completed her surgical training at MGH and obtained an MPH in International Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Briggs is Director of the International Trauma and Disaster Institute @ MGH, a center of excellence in trauma and disaster education. In 2018, Dr. Briggs was selected as the inaugural recipient of the Endowed Chair in Global Surgery at MGH. Dr. Briggs has been President of the Panamerican Trauma Association, Vice-President of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) and President of Boston Surgical Society. She is the Course Director of the ATLS, ATOM and ASSET courses for the ACS.
