Shahid Aziz, DMD, MD, FACS has been full time faculty in the Department of Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and in the Division of Plastic Surgery, Rutgers- NJ Medical School since 2002. Currently he is a Professor at Rutgers. He holds hospital appointments at The University Hospital, Newark, NJ and Hackensack University Medical Center. Dr. Aziz is also the founder of the nonprofit organization Smile Bangladesh. As such, he leads trips to rural Bangladesh twice a year with a team of surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to operate on children with cleft lip deformities.
Dr. Aziz is a graduate of the Lawrenceville School and Rutgers College. He received his dental degree from Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his general surgery internship and oral/maxillofacial surgery residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
