Dr. Jorge Valdes is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Assistant Program Director at Florida International University in Miami. He began is nursing career and undergraduate studies at the University of Miami. He obtained his Master of Nurse Anesthesia at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in 2002. Dr. Valdes received his Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Miami in 2012. His current research focus is in drug addiction in anesthesia, and Diversity in Nurisng workforce. Dr. Valdes’ has had several articles published in the AANA journal and other peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Valdes is a director for Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetist, he has served as president and Florida Political director. Dr.Valdes is involved in the AANA as he chairs the Divesity and Inclusion Commettee. He works in various office based surgery centers and Miami Beach anesthesia associated. Dr. Valdes’ clinical interests include regional anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, and anesthesia for mission work.
In November of 2013 Dr. Valdes became an Ironman completing the 140.6 mile Ironman distance while competing in the Ironman Florida triathlon. He is the father of four children and lives in Miami and Key largo.
