Adam C. Smith, MSN, CRNA graduated from UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing and spent close to four years as a UNC nurse in the Surgery/Trauma ICU. During these years, his interest in clinical ethics developed, specifically with issues surrounding informed consent, preferences of patients, futility disputes, family dynamics, DNR orders and interdisciplinary healthcare team communication with patients and families. After completing his nurse anesthesia training at Duke in 2015, Adam joined the UNC Department of Anesthesiology as a CRNA where his interest in clinical ethics continues to emerge.
