Viscoelastic tests of hemostasis have been developed to provide a comprehensive view of patient coagulation status in real-time. These tests are more commonly known as Thromboelastography (TEG) and Rotational Thromboelastometry (ROTEM). This presentation will review how these tests work and how to interpret ROTEM results. Current evidence will be presented regarding the use of TEG and ROTEM-guided transfusion therapy on transfusion requirements and patient outcomes.
