Museums large and small face many challenges, and expert advice can help. Drop by the Alliance Resource Center for informal advice from representatives from five organizations represented on the AAM Council of Affiliates. Each will be there for a half-hour of informal Q&A on the topics listed below.
2:00–2:30: Bonnie Styles, Executive Director, Association of Science Museum Directors (ASMD). Science museums: administration, funding, research, collections, programs, accreditation
2:30–3:00: Leland (Lee) Peterson, Chair, Museum Trustee Association (MTA); Past Chair, Heard Museum. Governance: building boards, partnership of board and staff, structuring for effective governance
3:00–3:30: William Cogar, Executive Director, Historic Naval Ships Association (HNSA). Management, board management, history museums
3:30–4:00: Rob Lancefield, former President, Museum Computer Network (MCN). Collection data sharing, open content, digital imaging
4:00–4:30: Julie Steiner, former President, Museum Store Association (MSA). Museum stores, retail
The AAM Council of Affiliates serves as a source of information in policy deliberations that may have impact beyond the Alliance’s immediate membership.
