Enjoy insider tours and discussions with staff from the two most-visited plantations in the New Orleans area. This excursion opens the contested topic of plantation tourism and unpacks its relationship with public history. See how narrative integrity and a commitment to change enable these two atypical museums to not only confront their histories but plan their interpretive future.

Accessibility for Laura Plantation
Fully ADA compliant for bathrooms, exhibit, gift shop and ground floor of the main house. The second floor, residential area of the main house is accessible by 15 steps and the slave cabin has 5 steps. A written script is available for those unable to go upstairs and for hearing impaired.
Accessibility for Oak Alley Plantation
Oak Alley offers ADA-compliant restrooms, in addition to which grounds exhibits are wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant. In the mansion brochures are available for those with hearing disabilities, and an ipad with a video of the 2nd floor tour is available for those unable to climb stairs. Service Animals are welcomed at both sites.
Guests should bring comfortable shoes, an umbrella, and a camera.
