As phase I of a capital development program, the New Orleans African American Museum (NOAAM) recently completed a new facility featuring office, archival, and education spaces. Due to unforeseen developments, the NOAAM will be adapting its new space to create a small exhibition area. The museum has partnered with the city to obtain Community Block Grant Development (CBGD) funds, and it has leveraged this funding with tax credits to create a $3 million project and complete plans for a $12 million project.
Bus will depart from Convention Center at 12:45 PM.
Ticket price: $25.00
No food provided.
Accessibility
The new facility of the NOAAM meets all ADA standards and the lecture will be held in a fully ADA compliant facility. The tour includes walking through a historic neighborhood and the NOAAM campus includes some areas that are difficult to navigate. Some of the sidewalks in Treme are broken and difficult to navigate for wheelchairs. If we have advance notice, we may be able to arrange for a carriage or a bicycle cab for handicapped participants. We also need advance notice for accommodating the visually or hearing impaired. We will provide hard copies of the slide presentation.
Attendees should bring walking shoes, wear comfortable clothes, bring a small umbrella and their camera. If they plan to have lunch at Lil Dizzy's they should bring a means of payment.
