The Whitney Plantation is the only plantation in Louisiana with an exclusive focus on slavery. Using monumental artwork and memorials, the site provides a space for visitors to honor the memory of enslaved people. Join the founding Executive Director and Research Director on a behind the scenes tour of the site.
Bus will depart from Convention Center at 8:30 AM.
Ticket price: $25.00
Bottled water and snacks (i.e. granola bars & fruit) will be provided.
Accessibility
The visitor center is ADA compliant. The bulk of the tour is an outdoor walking tour and can be accessed with walkers and motorized wheelchairs. We have a written transcript of the tour available for guests with hearing impairment. Service animals are allowed on the tour.
Guests should bring an umbrella, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and bug spray.
