Attendees will travel to the boathouse at Lakeshore Landing, home to The National WWII Museum's PT-305 for a guided deck tour of the docked vessel. PT-305 is the Museum's restored and operational 1943 PT boat, built in New Orleans by Higgins Industries. Attendees will board the vessel for a deck tour outlining the features of the boat and hearing firsthand from volunteers and staff who participated in the painstaking restoration, recreating some parts from original blueprints, and borrowing and swapping parts with other boats. Staff will also discuss the complexities of displaying a working artifact: how we work with maritime entities and insurance companies to safely operate the boat with passengers and how we envision the experience as both education and sales product.
Bus will depart from Convention Center at 9:15 AM
Ticket price: $15.00
No food provided.
Accessibility
The deck of the historic vessel itself is not ADA-compliant, however the boathouse is and display are universally visible from the main accessible floor of the boathouse.
