Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion
How can museums sustainably engage teens? This engagement exists within four Bay Area museums who collectively activate arts education and social justice curriculum in informal learning environments. The Museum of African Diaspora, the Asian Art Museum, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, and the de Young Museum discuss four very different approaches for engaging teens through programs and internships that support art, activism, community, and 21st Century learning skills. With others in the Bay Area, these four institutions have formed a Personal Learning Network, called Museum TeenForce, which collaborates, strategizes best practices, and creates connections as professionals and for their teen constituents.
