School and Teacher Program Coordinator

Katie Nickel is the School and Teacher Program Coordinator at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida. At The Ringling, Katie manages the school program which sees over 10,000 student visitors a year. She also creates and leads teacher professional development opportunities. Katie is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for school audiences and making out-of-classroom learning exciting. She is interested in the intersection of school and cultural sites, and exploring the dynamic ways storytelling can bring a curriculum to life. Before arriving at The Ringling last summer, Katie was a graduate student at the University of Florida where she worked and interned at the Harn Museum of Art and the University Galleries. Her master's research focused on hands-on education collections and the ways they can invigorate learning opportunities for a multi-generational audience. Katie lives in Sarasota with her husband and malamute, Snow.
