Registration Specialist
Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian
Allison has been working in the DC museum community for over 10 years. She graduated with a BA in Historic Preservation from the University of Mary Washington and an MA in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University. During her time working for the National Park Service (NPS) Allison provided interpretive tours to families and groups, developed curricula for targeted age groups incorporating MD, VA, and DC education standards, designed exhibit content for the new exhibits in the Washington Monument, evaluated project impacts to cultural resources and developed mitigating steps to minimize damage, and developed the first active museum program for the collections associated with the monuments on the National Mall. Since coming to the Smithsonian Institution in 2014, Allison has been working as a key member of the registration department at the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). As a member of that team, Allison's primary responsibilities include working with donors on new acquisitions, incoming and outgoing loans, and exhibitions. She works closely with the Curatorial and Conservation departments to facilitate incoming and outgoing loans, insurance, fine art packing/shipping, and helps prep objects for installation.
