Dr. Jayne-Leigh Thomas is the Director of the Office of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act at Indiana University. She has a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Edinburgh with a focus on human osteology. She is an adjunct professor to the Departments of Anthropology and Native American and Indigenous Studies at Indiana University with research interests in NAGPRA, repatriation, osteology, and ethics. Jayne-Leigh is a co-PI on a National Science Foundation grant through their Cultivating Cultures of Ethical STEM initiative, which aims to study how repatriation is taught and work towards interventions to improve the resources available. She has consulted with nearly 100 federally recognized tribes on repatriation projects across the country.
