Manager, Research and Evaluation
Museum of Science, Boston
Elizabeth Kollmann is the manager of the Research and Evaluation Department at the Museum of Science, Boston where she has worked since 2005. In her role as manager, Ms. Kollmann oversees 11 staff and over 20 research and evaluation projects each year. A focus for all of these studies is generating data that will be useful to teams and the broader informal education field and helping these various stakeholders to make use of data. This includes studying how visitors make relevance connections as a part of their experiences to think about design of exhibitions and programs. A recent study, ChemAttitudes, has generated findings about the the content, formats, and facilitation strategies included in chemistry hands-on activities that lead to increased understandings of the relevance of chemistry among museum visitors.
