Dental Implant TEAM Network: Administrative Track
This presentation will address the risk management issues facing dental practices today. The presentation will provide participants with a working knowledge of the requirements for health information sharing, as well as proper documentation of dental records. It is well established that proper documentation of dental records will do more to avoid litigation than any other single issue. Participants will learn what must be a part of the dental record, what must be provided to the patient upon request, and to whom and when they can legally share health information. Participants are asked to bring samples of redacted dental records to discuss whether their offices are in compliance and properly documenting dental records. Actual cases that resulted in dental malpractice litigation will be discussed and suggestions offered as to how litigation could have been avoided. An overview of dental malpractice in the United States today will be discussed as well as suggestions for dental practices to protect themselves from litigation.
