When to hold them and when to fold them! This presentation will break down the many factors in the decision-making process of choosing an implant over the retention of the natural tooth. The biology of post-treatment disease, prosthetics, vertical root fracture, use of CBCT and intentional replantation will all be discussed. "When to hold them and when to fold them" would not be complete without also addressing proper patient selection. The retention of the natural tooth and the use of implants in a comparison and contrasting format utilizing current literature and sound and prudent clinical judgment will be discussed.
