2017-2018 Continuing Education Committee
Each year, the Continuing Education Committee meets in Chicago to plan the program for the Insight Track meeting. The CEC reviews feedback and suggestions from past meeting attendees to begin developing the various courses, all centered around one main topic or theme.
Jeffrey S. Albert, D.M.D.
Member 2016 – 2019
Dr. Jeffrey Albert practices clinical endodontics in West Palm Beach, Fla. He received his bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan in 1996, DMD from Nova Southeastern University in 2004 and certificate in endodontics from NYU in 2012. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and is a recent recipient of the AAE Spirit of Service Award. He is vice president of the Central Palm Beach Dental Association and recently completed a three-year term with the AAE Public and Professional Relations Committee. He prides himself on giving back to the community and providing excellent patient care.
Daniel Bartling, D.D.S.

Sonia Chopra, D.D.S.
Member 2017 – 2020
Dr. Chopra was born and raised in Upstate New York. She studied anthropology at the University of Buffalo. She then went on to complete dental school at the University of Maryland and graduated in 2003. In order to live at least one year of her life in New York City, she committed to a GPR program at the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. She loved it so much, she practiced general dentistry in the Big Apple for two years upon completion of this program. It was during these two years that she realized she wanted to learn more and “be really good at one thing.” Dr. Chopra decided to continue her education and completed an endodontic residency at Nova Southeastern University in 2008. After graduation, she moved to Charlotte, N.C., where she opened a practice from scratch. After three kids (two girls and a boy) and growing a practice, she became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 2014. When she’s not working, her favorite things to do include traveling to new places, meeting new people and tasting new food.
Steven E. Fegan, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Steven Fegan received a B.S. in biological sciences from Wayne State University in 1984. In 1988 he completed his D.D.S. at the University of Detroit. He finished his M.S. degree and Certificate in Endodontics at the University of Detroit in 1991. For three years following his endodontic residency, he was a part-time preclinical instructor in endodontics. He has been the past chairman of the Macomb Dental Society Young Professionals, past president of the Thumb District Dental Society, past chairman of the Michigan Dental Asssociation’s public relations committee, the immediate past president of the Michigan Association of Endodontists, and currently is a representative to the Council of Michigan Dental Specialties. Since 1991, Dr. Fegan has practiced full-time with Bluewater Endodontics/Michigan Endodontics in Port Huron and Warren, Michigan.
Darlene R. Hachmeister D.M.D.
Dr. Darlene Hachmeister received her D.M.D. degree from the University of Florida in 1994. She served in the United States Air Force from 1994 to 2003, receiving an advanced education in general dentistry certificate at Bolling Air Force Base in 1995 and a specialty Certificate in Endodontics from Wilford Hall Medical Center in 2001. She became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 2005. She maintains a private practice and serves as a reviewer for the scientific advisory board for the Journal of Endodontics. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the Florida Association of Endodontists and College of Diplomates of the American Board of Endodontics.
L. Keith Hildebrand, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Keith Hildebrand presently serves as Interim Chairman of Endodontics at West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He received his dental hygiene degree in 1975 from West Virginia Institution of Technology, his D.D.S. from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1980 and his Master of Science in Endodontics in 1984 from West Virginia University School of Dentistry. Dr Hildebrand was in specialty private practice of endodontics for thirty years in Huntington, WV until he was recruited to academics in Sept. 2014. He is currently a member of good standing in the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontist, the American College of Dentist, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the West Virginia Dental Association.
Katie Kickertz, D.D.S.
Dr. Kickertz is currently a second-year endodontic resident at the University of Minnesota. She graduated from Purdue University and Indiana University School of Dentistry. She is originally from Rockford, Ill., and practiced general dentistry in Chicagoland prior to residency. In her free time (prior to residency), Dr. Kickertz volunteers as a judge with U.S. figure skating and spent her childhood as a competitive figure skater.
Timothy C. Kirkpatrick, D.D.S.

Dr. Timothy C. Kirkpatrick is a Professor in the Department of Endodontics at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston where he also is the Program Director of the Endodontics Residency. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University (1985), D.D.S. from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School (1989), Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate from the University of Florida in Gainesville (1990) and certificate in Endodontics from Wilford Hall Medical Center (2000). He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 2004 and is currently a Director of the American Board of Endodontics, currently serving as Secretary.
Umadevi P. Nair, B.D.S., D.M.D., M.D.S.
Member 2016 – 2018
Dr. Umadevi P. Nair received her D.M.D. degree at the University of Pittsburgh. She completed her master's degree in India and Certificate in Endodontics at the University of Pittsburgh. She joined University of Florida’s College of Dentistry as a faculty member in endodontics in 2005 and is currently the director of predoctoral endodontics there. Her research interests include pathogenesis and 3-D imaging of vertical root fractures and the applications of CBCT in endodontics.
John Yaccino, D.D.S.
Board Liaison 2017 – 2018
Dr. (Colonel) John Yaccino was born in Oak Park, Ill., and grew up in the Chicago area. He worked as an air traffic controller for four years before attending dental school. Following graduation from the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry, Dr. Yaccino entered the United States Air Force and completed a one-year General Practice Residency program. After eight years as a general dentist, he was accepted into the Endodontics Residency program at Wilford Hall. Dr. Yaccino served as the endodontics residency training officer from 2009-2013 and as the program director from 2013-2015. He attained his Board certification in Endodontics in 2012. Col. Yaccino retired from the Air Force in 2017 after 28 years of service before joining the San Antonio Endodontics Association practice.
Dr. Yaccino currently serves as the District V representative on the American Association Board of Endodontics and is a reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics. He and his wife Kathy have been married for 32 years and have two children, Kevin (26) and Sarah (23). In his spare time, Dr. Yaccino enjoys tennis, softball, reading, gardening and home brewing.
