Amplification and Assistive Devices (AAD)
Instructional Level: Fundamental
Unlike acoustic hearing aids (AHAs) that use an acoustic receiver to produce an amplified sound signal, the Earlens Contact Hearing Aid (CHA) directly vibrates the eardrum. Multiple studies have been conducted to investigate the Earlens CHA performance benefits for participants with a mild-to-severe sensorineural hearing loss in comparison to AHAs. These studies reveal that the CHA can achieve a significantly broader bandwidth of functional audibility and delivers superior sound quality for everyday sounds and when streaming, in comparison to AHAs.
