Implantable Hearing Devices (IHD)
Instructional Level: Intermediate
Until this year clinicians and patients have been limited to either a percutaneous or transcutaneous surgical bone conduction system, both of which have significant drawbacks in complications and user satisfaction. The BONEBRIDGE system is the world’s first active bone conduction implant providing an alternative that overcomes many of the drawbacks with other surgical systems. We discuss surgical bone conduction systems, their drawbacks and how BONEBRIDGE differs from a surgical and design perspective from previous generations of surgical bone conduction systems.
