Diagnosing a child with hearing loss is the beginning of a long journey for the family. The making the choice and accepting hearing technology can be a daunting task for families. Pediatric audiologists are challenged to provide enough information while still addressing families emotional needs. Families are complex systems with many connections and challenges. During this presentation will identify and discuss potential avenues for counseling to occur, discuss potential barriers and identify strategies to increase family support.
