Adult Diagnostic (AD)
Instructional Level: Advanced
Clinical communication plays a vital role in hearing loss management. Research show that appointments are characterised by predominantly close-ended questions, and audiologist-dominated agendas. Artificial intelligence, robotics and automation in healthcare will impact on the clinician’s role. This session investigates how clinicians can prepare for and develop the necessary 21st century skills that cannot be automated. We explore this in the context of the clinical interview during routine audiology appointments, with a focus on information gathering and person centred communication.
