Instructional Level: Intermediate
Video head impulse testing (vHIT) is a simple test that provides information about the function of all semicircular canals and their neural pathways. While the test can be performed quickly, the rules for interpretation are still emerging. This presentation uses a computer model of the vHIT to explain the role of VOR gain in quantifying the level of vestibular loss. In addition, mechanisms of overt and covert saccades and their role in vestibular compensation will be discussed.
